Cards can be fun sometimes [Aug. 19th, 2008|08:03 pm]

cranky__crocus
My reflexes are pretty insane.

We played Spoons (cards) today. I won twice, but only one was fair.

I also accidentally stabbed Ben with a spoon when he was jumping on me and reaching over me for another spoon. And I straightened the spoon.

I then told Merf, later in the evening, "I am a cereal killer."
"What kind of cereal?"
-Deadpan face.- "Anyone can be my cereal when I have a spoon." -Waggles eyebrows sexily and slightly crazily.-
-Both crack up.-

Basically, we are full of win.

Snoopy is full of shit because she won both games of bull shit, haha.

The Omnivore's Hundred [Aug. 19th, 2008|07:18 pm]

tscheese
Stolen from [info]smurasaki.

Many of you know that I'm pretty adventurous when it comes to food. Ever since I moved to the NYC metro area, I've been able to try a LOT of different things and different cuisines. Are you an omnivore? I'd be interested to see how you do on this test.

From the meme:

The Omnivore's Hundred is a list of foods the gastronomic Andrew Wheeler thinks everyone should try at least once in their lives.

The rules of the meme: bold those you have tried, strikethrough those you wouldn't eat on a bet, asterisk the ones you find yummiest.

For those of you not on her or [info]ladyterentia's LJ, [info]avian_firefly is doing much better. She was released from the hospital over the weekend, and I got to speak to her briefly on the phone. Just comparing that conversation to how she was on Saturday afternoon at Otakon, I can tell she's getting better already. She's even back on LJ. She's going for therapy, and her doctors expect she'll make a full recovery within six months to a year.

Is just me or does it seems people live for attention? I mean don’t get me wrong attention is great and all but sometimes bad attention gets ugly. Thought I would ask.

Some people go for morning jogs; I go for midnight strolls.

The problem with understanding that we're imperfect is that we then try to perfect living imperfectly.

Yes, I did a lot of thinking.

[In my Guts | annoyed]

I spent the whole weekend cleaning my sisters house right. I spent friday afternoon for a few hours and the Saturday for a few hours and Yesterday for a few hours.

I woke this morning with a fever and unable to move around. Just got back from the doc in a box apparently there is mold in my lungs from dog poop and other gross things. Well the house is clean and neat now but I got sick.

So I am going to sleep all day and get better to go back to work in the morning. >.>

HAY [info]kittenmint, I HAD A DREAM ABOUT YOU.

We were talking about food and then we started SCREAMING AT EACH OTHER AT THE TOP OF OUR LUNGS. And then there were all these...peaches. And some people were speaking a language I couldn't understand or identify. And we found an elevator in my parents' house, but it didn't work! And you told me about Creutzfeldt-Jakob. And we yelled at each other some more.

Get out of my dreams, K-mint, you make them weird.

The Awkward Moment [Aug. 16th, 2008|11:33 pm]

cranky__crocus
I'm down here. I drove the way sorta to know I could. I should be more chill on the way back, haha.

We stopped in Delaware and had seriously way too much fun. The woman who sold us EZPass said, "Now don't go using this in any car. Like when you're riding with your boyfriend, don't just take it." I smiled and joked with Snoopy. We walked outside and the Pepsi machine became my boyfriend, and there are two pictures of me hugging it. Then I put my tongue to the Delaware picture on a truck and another picture was taken.

We've been around and stuff.

Awkward moment:

[General talk about how weird Harold and Maude was as a movie.]
[Katie doesn't seem to think it's as bad. Kiwi raves.]
Kiwi (finally speaking up): Harold and Maude is my favorite movies. Or, one of. I just thought I would put that out there.
Da (paraphrased): A good time! [Everything is awkward.]
Kiwi: But it's not as though I'm attracted to 80-year-old women that way or anything, just because I like the movie. ((Somewhat of a lie, considering that I think Ruth Gordon was beautiful, but just in that way that I want to admire the beauty someone has kept through life rather than in wanting to do anything sexual--I just enjoy acknowledging the beauty everyone has, no matter the age!))
Hopkins Father: You mean men.
Kiwi: Huh, what? Men? [Confused.]
Snoopy: [Some comment along that, more general confusion.]
Hopkins Father: [A little hesitantly.] Well, you're a girl, so it would be 80-year-old men, right?
Kiwi (pulling the ditz card): Men? Oh, men. Yeah I guess.
[Awkwardly ends.]
[Precedes to joke with Snoopy, who is now my boyfriend and not my wife. We are boyfriends. We have turned from a queer female pair to a queer male pair.]

So. It was just about one of the most awkard moments of my life, since he was just innocently like almost completely unaware that a girl might not like boys. Even if we're talking about 80-year-olds. And I was joking, really, but then it just turned so awkard haha. It was the second time in a day and it just reminded me that yes, Kiwi, you left New England. You are a Masshole who is 600 miles south from home.

So that was interesting. The three daughters know I'm gay. I did not press to come out because a) no girlcritter present, no real need and b) it could jeopardize being able to stay in the room with all the girls. Which is not really glorious, but there's also no where else really to stay, and it would just cause trouble.

I've never not been out before. Everyone has just always known I'm gay. This is so weird.

But yes, darn it all, I am going to have fun with this. Somehow I will.

Do you guys know why I freakin' love Jersey?

TOMATOES.

The growing season is relatively short, and we only get local tomatoes in late July/August/early September, but Jesus tapdancing Christ, are they the best tomatoes I've ever had in my life.

Many of you know about my ridiculous obsession with tomatoes. I LOVE TOMATOES. They are my absolute favorite food on the entire planet. They are so bright and flavorful and packed with succulent, savory flavors! Absolutely my favorite thing ever.

I don't usually like summer, but late summer in Jersey is not a bad thing. There's a reason this is called "The Garden State." And how sweet it is.

TWO. FREAKING. HOURS. AT. THE. DAMN. DMV. >:O

At least I have a new drivers' license now.

I also have a new set of cookware! Target had boxed sets of cheap-ass cookware: one large dutch oven, one regular sauce pan, one little sauce pan, one large skillet, and one small skillet. Nothing fancy, nothing professional, but dudes, I live on curry udon and veggie stir-fries. I do not need an adamantium Bundt cake pan. I do not need two hundred Corningware Cornish hen cozies. I am a lady of utilitarianism and many tomatoes. This is how I roll.

Who cares, y'know? Oh, and some cheap-ass stainless steel cutlery. I passed on a Corelle set, though I would have loved to have one.

I also now have an aqua-green bathroom set: a rug, a toilet seat cover, two large towels and two hand towels. AND A PLUNGER! And the top of the plunger is kind of twirly clear plastic and it looks like a BUTTPLUG! THIS IS WHY I BOUGHT IT It was the only one they had.

If I can get one more dish chair and two area rugs, I'll almost have a respectable living room! Except I don't have a TV. Um. Maybe I'll beg, borrow or steal a big LCD monitor and just plug my Macbook into it to watch movies on. Yeah.

And half of it is going to be my arting area. And the other half of it is going to be my music area. I need space to rock out, bitches. Fuck it. I'm making my apartment into one big Studio Tscheese. Strictly utilitarian. You don't come over to Chez Cheez to be pampered with the finest in chaise lounges and Blu-Ray. You come over to Chez Cheez to rock out.

Also I think I need to buy a car. This is going to be messy.

Shit! Rice cooker. Rice cooker! Need! And coffeemaker. NEED. COFFEE. Agh. HALP.

If you were born in a different state than you currently reside, you've probably had people ask you questions whenever you have to flash your birth certificate.

Four years ago, when I got my first NJ drivers' license, the nice little old lady behind the counter at the DMV was just enchanted by me.

"Goodness! South Dakota?" she said, when she saw my birth certificate.
"Yeah, but I was a resident of Pennsylvania--"
"We don't see South Dakota birth certificates everyday! You're from South Dakota?!"
"I lived in Pennsylvania for four years to attend college, I--"
"It must be very different out here for you! I'm sure you haven't had any time to adjust?"
"I. Lived. Two. Hours. Away. For. The. Past. Four. Years--"
"All the way from South Dakota, twenty-two years old, and all on her lonesome? Goodness, that's wonderful. Stand over there, honey, so I can take your picture. South Dakota, lands' sakes."

Speaking of which, I picked a lovely time to get my damn picture took. The sweat/exhaustion/water of Baltimore bombed my skin back to Hiroshima and/or the age of 13. This is balls, man. I should go soon.

Packing V. 2.0 [Aug. 15th, 2008|07:33 pm]

cranky__crocus
I think my biggest issue with packing is that I have this desire to be the type of person who can have her whole life in one suitcase.

At the same time, I connect memories and feelings to objects and clothing very easily.

It's probably a good thing that I think I look good in so many types of clothing, but it does mean I end up with far too much.

Sigh. Clean the car now, I guess. Waiting for Snoopy to arrive. Then sleep, then 13 hour drive. Epic?

Life tires me out. I think that's only punny to me (13 hour drive, tires me out, oh hahhah) because I'm a packing nervous wreck and tired and frightened.

I will probably cheer up tomorrow!

Packing [Aug. 15th, 2008|06:49 pm]

cranky__crocus
I do not understand how I can hate packing so much.

I think it's partially that I always have to leave clothing and some styles behind. And it reminds me of the Major Life Packing I have to do for uni.

But ugh, always, packing is horribly stressful and makes me want to cry. Or I do.

I enjoy too many styles on myself. If I only liked one, goodness, I would not have this trouble!

No I feel as though I should be shoving socks in my undies or something.
